On 26 April 2018, CAAM and CABIA released interim rules for an industry whitelist covering automotive traction batteries and hydrogen fuel cells and opened the first application round. A contemporaneous MIIT report described voluntary company applications, preliminary review by the alliance secretariat and expert assessment. The initiative is useful historical material on industry self-regulation and quality improvement. It should not be confused with government market-access approval, an administrative licence or evidence that a company currently retains a particular status. The present operation of the programme has not been established here.
