China sets out supplier-payment and payment-term requirements for automakers

Policy and standards , industry news,  events and delegations — published in English, with a source included with every figure.

A joint notice from MIIT and the State Administration for Market Regulation addresses how automakers calculate payment terms, conduct acceptance checks, arrange payment methods and make provisional payments during price negotiations. Production materials should generally be accepted within three working days after receipt; components requiring installation validation have a five-working-day vehicle inspection provision. For SME suppliers, payment within 30 days after acceptance is encouraged, with a maximum of 60 days. The notice also provides for company reporting and third-party assessment, making it relevant to commercial arrangements across automotive and battery supply chains.
