In 2018, CAAM and CABIA operated a voluntary application, expert review and public-notice process for battery and fuel-cell businesses.

CAAM and CABIA introduced an industry self-regulation framework in April 2018 for automotive traction batteries and hydrogen fuel cells.

CABIA’s secretariat received applications, screened submissions and organised expert reviews. The scope covered electrode materials, cells, battery systems, fuel-cell systems and stacks, with public notices on association channels.
