A 1.99MW/8.35MWh battery storage project in Kanuma, Japan, has entered operation using equipment supplied by REPT BATTERO, combining international technology supply with local project delivery.
CABIA member REPT BATTERO reported in August 2026 that its first standalone grid-side battery storage project in Japan had been connected to the grid and entered operation. Located in Kanuma, Tochigi Prefecture, the facility uses the company’s 417kWh liquid-cooled outdoor DC storage cabinets.
According to the company, the project participates in Japan’s frequency-regulation, capacity and electricity spot markets. It also makes use of previously underutilized land and provides emergency backup power for the owner’s business continuity needs.
Beyond equipment supply, REPT BATTERO described a delivery approach that combines standardized procedures with local adaptation. Certified engineers work with local partners on factory and site acceptance testing, grid commissioning and ongoing operational support.
For ICC’s coverage of CABIA members abroad, the Kanuma project highlights the role of local implementation alongside battery technology. Bringing storage into operation requires coordination across equipment supply, testing, commissioning and service—practical connections that underpin international energy cooperation.
